Gram flour ( Besan ) Halwa

This is one of my favourite sweets. Whenever i feel like having a dessert, this comes first in my mind because its easy to make and also yummy. Here goes the recipe.....
Ingredients
  • 1cup Gram flour (Besan), sifted
  • 1/4 cup Ghee( solidified)
  • 1/4 cup Olive oil (light. NOT Extra Virgin). or use all ghee
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup water
  • cashews( as required)
  • 2 pods cardamom 

Method
  1. Sift the gram flour(besan).
  2. Add the oil and ghee together in a thick bottomed pan.
  3. Once the ghee melts add the gram flour and cashews together in the pan and keep frying on a low-medium heat until the gram flour and cashews turn slightly golden colour.
  4. Meantime combine water and sugar in a pan and allow it to boil. ( no longer than it dissolves)
  5. Now add the sugar syrup into the gram flour mixture and keep stirring until it absorbs all the water and its not sticking to the pan. ( do not over cook it, otherwise the halwa will become too hard)  
  6. Now add the crushed cardamom, mix well.
  7. Remove the pan from stove top and enjoy the treat with your family.
